Sister Mavis said if anyone happened to go to Cambodia, please help her to bring this important thing.
This packet of brown papers is usually used for take away orders. Mavis requested for them as they are very costly in Cambodia. So if there is anyone who wants to help, please pass them to those who are going to Siemen Seap.

This is the second day of my journey. The night before, I stayed in a hotel that had provided me a terrible service. Though a night’s stay costs about $15 US dollar but the bed I slept on was horribly smelly. I then called for someone to change the bedsheet for me but despite searching high and low for it, he couldn’t find the correct size of the bedsheet for me. Finally, he came back with one happily and while he was changing the bedsheet, I could sense a layer of thick baby powder smell. After he left, I went forward to smell the bedsheet immediately! However, I realised it was exactly the same smelly bedsheet except for the baby powder smell!!
The next day without any consideration, I packed my backpack and check out immediately. I remember chancing upon another hotel when I was on my way to the previous hotel (the one with smelly bedsheet). Since it is still early, I went to enquire from door to door and at last, I found a clean, cheap hotel and I also heard that the owner is a Singaporean,
Sister Mavis’s friend, Diana came to volunteer as well today. We took the vehicle to the villages to deliver meal. However, only Diana can sit on it, resembling the local girls in Cambodia.
She is curious about everything, asking many questions and is full of zeal. She also reveals that she always watches Taiwan idol dramas online. She’s so cute!
If you think that she is a lady who lives in fantasy then you are absolutely wrong. She is quite popular and often seen in magazines. She opens a factory in Cambodia, making use of recycled rice stack bags, nylon bags, carton boxes to make them into bags. She employs many single mothers thus supporting them financially.
Bel is a single foot hero who lost his foot when he accidentally stepped into a lane mine. However, he didn’t lose his confidence depsite this incident. In fact, he uses a clutch to replace his foot and walks like a normal person. He is in charge of leading us to the poor villages to deliver rice packs and uses his strong hands to feed each mouth.
Different kids have different toys. Some of them have batman cars, while some have coconut shell with 3 spoilt batteries and the rest have few broken aluminium cans. That is how they grow up at muddy land!
The lady at the top right hand corner is Diana while the picture on the top left hand corner is the cute driver Bun Thom and I. He hopes that I can help him and introduce some of my friends who are going Cambodia to him.
For those of you who wish to go to Siem Reap, Please do not hesitate to contact him at thorn_bun@yahoo.com
He is very sincere, though a little shy but very warm and approachable.
再来是Diana,这是她的blog:http://cambodiacalling.blogspot.com/ And this is Diana’s blog http://cambodiacalling.blogspot.com/
I heard from Mavis that she has given up a five digit salary to come to Cambodia. Sometimes I wonder, why do human slog so hard for? I think as long as you have a passion for something, you will be able to fully understand.
These pictures are taken when I left siem reap to phnom penh and went on a visit to the recycled bag factories to see the manufacturing processes. I bought a few of them and they are quite beautiful.
These are taken from Diana’s shop. The beautiful fatigue on the walls are personally made by her wor ~
Before I leave, I promised mavis that I will help her to raise some funds to buy a van so that it will be more convenient for her to deliver rice packs to further places.

thx:)
sure not a prob…tks…
As far as I know the bank might ask beneficiary’s address & receiving bank address as well, isn’t it?
Hi Candice, you can go to any bank for telegrahic transfer but preferably your own bank account so you can debit from your account right away.
Telegrahic transfer charges $30.
The beneficiary and bank address is not necessary but there is this bank swift code needed to ensure we are transfering to the right bank.
Every bank has their own unique bank swift code number.
Hope above helps.
Hi jesseca,
I was thinking can we do a transfer to the riceblog account instead of Mavis account so we can save on the TT charges and use it for donation instead.
Btw, may I ask how much is needed to raise the van?
Thanks,
lit
To Lit,
You are right, it only need beneficiary’s bank name, account number and the swift code to tt!
Per Ms. Mavis, a 2nd-hand van might cost about USD $2000 ~ 3000, depending on the condition!
Hi, so long never go to your blog to read. How everything getting on? Finally I went to your blog to see your latest update on your trip to cambodia. I am not too sure whether u still remember me.
